100 years ago: A.A. McLendon of the Kline mesa enjoyed Durango in the afternoon, “flirting with all the pretty girls.”

75 years ago: Julius Fowler, who “passed at least seven checks totaling $65,” was arrested and “arraigned in justice of peace court.” An “unfavorable” FBI report indicated that Fowler had been passing short checks for some 15 years.”

50 years ago: The American Legion Post 28 “barely broke even” on the Camero it gave away to provide funds for veteran rehabilitation.

25 years ago: A fight over a woman at 10th Street and Main Avenue resulted in a 26-year-old man cited for disorderly conduct, assault and resisting arrest; a 23-year-old man sent to jail for charges of assault, resisting arrest, encouraging the delinquency of a minor, open-container violation and procuring items for a minor. The minor was cited for underage drinking and released to his mother, who was from Aztec.
