100 years ago: Ole Lee delivered a third haul of strawberries and reported that the berry crop was “apt to fall short as the late frosts put the kibosh on most of the blossoms.”

75 years ago: City officials warned they would get “fighting mad” about the theft of sprinklers from Third Avenue.

50 years ago: It was announced that the recreation facilities and administration of public lands that surround Lemon Reservoir would be under new management by the San Juan National Forest, from previously being managed by the National Park Service.

25 years ago: Someone reported a neglected puppy in a truck parked in the Town Plaza parking lot. Officers discovered that the dog to be “OK, just lonely.”
