50 Years ago: “The Montelores Studies Center in Cortez will present an orientation conference on multicultural education for Montezuma and Dolores County educators. Representatives of the Ute and Navajo Indians, the Spanish-speaking and the Anglo communities will speak on multi-ethnic considerations in a community with several cultures. Out-of-town speakers will discuss behavioral psychology, sociology and linguistics and their relation to educational programs for the multi-cultural school.”
25 Years Ago: “Law officers Friday nabbed two groups of Durango teenagers suspected of vandalizing at least 23 local buildings and landmarks in a series of graffiti raids that peaked the last weekend of February. Durango police are still looking for a third group in addition to the six boys they have in custody.”
