75 years ago: The new registration of men enlisting for active military duty was handled by the local draft board rather than by local election precincts. The draft board officials urged every eligible citizen aged 18-60 to watch for further announcements of registration dates.

50 Years Ago: The Southwestern championship slot car tournament was held at the Alpine Model Raceway. The four racers to finish first were awarded trophies.

25 years ago: Someone accidentally shot himself in the hand with a .38 caliber weapon on Fifth Street. Someone destroyed the side window of a vehicle at the Durango Mall, 800 South Camino del Rio. Someone stole $266 in cash from a residence at 20617 La Plata Highway Colorado Highway 140.
