75 years ago: “Durango’s second municipal election to be held tomorrow is slated to be on the quiet side. No furor or fuss has been made, and a light vote is predicted.”
50 years ago: “Won’t someone please come to the Bill Burells at Apartment 8, Fort Lewis married students’ housing, and claim their pet raccoon? The animal, wearing a collar which would indicate it’s someone’s pet, showed up on College Heights. The Burrells tied it up, hoping the owner would begin looking for it. As of noon the ’coon had bitten at least two persons, and maybe a third.”
25 years ago: “Veterinarians at the Durango Animal Hospital said they are diagnosing an extreme amount of parvo virus cases in dogs this spring and have had one fatality as a result of the infection. ... It causes depression, profuse vomiting and diarrhea.”
