75 years ago: “Whisked 440 miles to Denver over highways some other motorists found impassable, Fred Hallar, 64, of near Mancos is under care of specialists at a Denver hospital. Five highway patrolmen, in relays, escorted Hallar’s automobile during the 12-hour trip. ... Attendants at St. Luke’s Hospital said his condition is ‘not critical at present.’”
