50 years ago: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Andrews were among the first people in La Plata County to cast their ballots this morning. At 7:45 a.m., fifty-six persons had voted in Precinct 29. Despite the weather, voting indications were very favorable by 11 a.m. Over 100 persons had voted in each of precincts 3, 13, 18 and 23.
25 years ago: Fort Lewis College is making commendable progress in providing facilities that are more accessible to persons with disabilities, the president of the school’s Disabled Student Union said. Members of the union filed a class-action complaint against the college in May alleging that many of the college’s programs and buildings didn’t comply with federal accessibility regulations.
