75 years ago: Joseph Martinez was detained at La Plata County jail after Sheriff R. Bruce Sullivan convinced the “male members of his family” to capture him. Martinez waited in his cell for a sanity hearing to be scheduled.
50 years ago: The flow of the Animas River for June was recorded at half of the average, according to 62 years of recorded data.
25 years ago: A man who was driving a vehicle with a California license plate stopped an officer in the east 100 block of Eighth Street to ask where he should eat in Durango.
