Leon Burrows, city recreation director, Rufe Romero and Robert Balliger reported the rink will be 80 feet wide and 120 feet long. City picnic tables and garbage disposal cans will be placed around the rink. The area will be heated by heaters with protected wires.
25 years ago: Cooperation, the theme of the 1991 Durango Area Chamber Resort Association retreat Friday, was carried through most of the day’s programs, from how governmental entities can work together on facility needs to how the community can join hands in improving education and tourism. The day long retreat, held at Tamarron Resort, included discussions of major issues facing the county and DACRA; workshops on education, tourism, the fairgrounds and transportation; and a forum for the six candidates vying for two positions on the DACRA board of directors. Some 92 people had signed up for the event.
