75 years ago: “Another of Durango’s best know couples will celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Milford Graves are the happy pair. On April 30, 1889, Harvey M. Graves and Miss Anna Gosney were united in marriage at Monroe City, Mo.”
50 years ago: “Precipitation has passed the April mark of 1963. In 1963, the precipitation by April 30 measured 1.17”. This year’s measurement for April is 1.69.”
25 years ago: “Eleven weeks after an early morning fire destroyed the 1881 D&SNG roundhouse and damaged all six of the railroad’s engines, three of the iron horses will be ready to roll when two 10-car trains chug out of the station, right on schedule. Beyond the balloons, the bands and the hoopla, train lovers have 14 grimy, bleary-eyed men to thank. These are the machinists, the mechanics and the welders who have toiled 10,000 man hours to bring the charred engines to life.”
