100 years ago: “C.G. Delamater, 36 years, fired four bullets from a .38-caliber, 5-shot revolver, at his wife, Victoria Delamater, and then ended his own life with a bullet through the heart.”
75 years ago: “Frank Roberts of the Florida district was in town buying turkey feed. Frank says that turkeys did unusually well this summer, partially because the dry summer constituted ideal growing conditions.”
50 years ago: “The Ury Eulams have sold the Candlelite Cafe at 644 East Sixth Street to Tom, Jessie and Melba Sims of Hemet, California. The Sims family were famous in California for home-cooked meals. The sale was handled by Clive Peterson Real Estate.”
25 years ago: “Natural gas development in La Plata County will continue at breakneck speed through 1990 following a U.S. Senate defeat of a proposed extension of a tax credit. A two-year extension could have slowed development, but probably would not have affected the total number of coal-bed methane wells drilled in La Plata County.”
