50 years ago: IGNACIO – “Meat of 10 buffalo purchased from Yellowstone National Park will be distributed to members of the Southern Ute Tribe. The distribution will be to family heads. For those who want a trophy, the heads of the buffalo will be sold at $1 each to tribal members.”
25 years ago: “Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad crews who saved the season after a devastating February 1989 roundhouse fire were given a special award recently by the Durango Planning Commission. The ‘one of its kind, first-time-ever salute’ was among awards handed out by the Planning Commission and Design Review Board.”
