75 years ago: Robert Downing, son of Dr. and Mrs. R.L. Downing of Durango, enlisted for a three-year period in the signal corps and radio intelligence branch of the Army in Bakersfield, California. He was promoted to technical sergeant within the first three months of training.

50 years ago: John Melton Barnes of Durango was injured after he hit and killed a deer with his vehicle on the El Paso Natural Gas Road.

25 years ago: Someone stole a General Electric VCR, valued at $248, from Durango Job Service.
