100 years ago: H.L. Morgan, field secretary of the State Bankers’ Association was in Durango “to grame up with local banks regarding the coming Liberty Loan campaign.”

75 years ago: The Basin Livestock Commission company of Durango reported “a very active sale at their sales barn,” two miles south of town. The company handled more than 700 head of livestock from patrons in the area.

50 years ago: City Manager Robert Rank held a press briefing with representatives of the news media about the city budget. Items on the agenda included annual tax levy and appropriations for 1968.

25 years ago: In response to the review of the 1993 budget, community activists paraded before Durango City Council to ask for money and to “describe the good deeds that money can buy.”
