100 years ago: “La Plata’s board of county commissioners wound up their session and adjourned until Nov. 15. The commissioners cleaned up all routine business such as reading bids, awarding contracts, allowing claims, etc. and making the levels for the ensuing fiscal year as far as they could.”
75 years ago: “‘Going Shadow’ of the Harold Teen comics one better, Durango school boys are sporting bright colored ear muffs, but they haven’t donned their head coverings as yet. Hats or caps, are not favored generally, possibly because the girls might think the boys were sissies and couldn’t stand the cold weather.”
50 years ago: “It will cost Rio Grande-land $300 to have the ailing poplar tree removed from the triangle near the D&RGW depot.”
25 years ago: “Police raided a home near Hermosa and arrested a 40-year-old man alleged to be the ‘brains and money’ behind a marijuana-growing operation near Allison. ...
