75 years ago: “A fur style show, or a style show in furs, will be staged at the Kiva by the Durango Fur Company. Twenty-five coats and jackets will be exhibited. Materials will include Alaskan seal, beaver, mink, muskrats, caracul, Hudson Bay seal, skunk and raccoon.”

50 years ago: SILVERTON – “Twenty-two seniors are scheduled to graduate from the Silverton High School. It’s the largest Silverton graduating class since 1953.”

25 years ago: Ruthie Matthes, who had previously won the Durango-to-Silverton women’s road race, made it two in a row with a victory in the woman’s criterium. “I was just waiting for the right break,” Matthes told the Herald.
