100 years ago: “Joseph Steinegger was working on repairs for a pair of shoes that had been sent to him from Florida to be fixed. They belonged to his daughter, Lena, who now lives in Florida. She sent them by parcel post with the advice that there were no good shoemakers in Florida.”
75 years ago: “A number of the members of the San Juan Ski Club are planning to go to Wolf Creek Pass for a day’s ski outing. Some 15 already have indicated they will be in the party, and there’s always room for more.”
50 years ago: IGNACIO – “Anthony Burch has been named program director for the Southern Ute Indian Tribe by the Tribal Council.”
25 years ago: “Honor roll students at Durango High School are eligible for ski passes as part of a pilot program started this year by Purgatory Ski Resort. Students are recommended for the program at the end of each quarter based on their grades and attendance records. As the student improves throughout high school, so do the skiing benefits.”
