75 years ago: An advertisement for Schluter Floral Company read, “Flowers embody the full spirit of Easter, and what more delightful and expressive gift? You will find in our large selection of flowers and plants that appropriate choice.”

50 years ago: “The directors of the San Juan Development Co. voted to lend Ray Duncan’s Durango Ski Corp. $87,500 at 5½ percent interest. ... Gratitude to the businesses and individuals that have agreed to buy the stock for amounts varying from $100 to $1,000.”

25 years ago: “Although Earth Day 1990 will be celebrated on April 22, festivities in Durango will be spread over seven weeks. Numerous activities are tentatively planned for the local Earth Day 1990 Festival.”
