Johnson stated via wire, ‘Glad to advise you that the desired CCC camp is to be established at Durango.’ It had been feared that the camp, which works under the soil conservation service, would be moved from its Reservoir Hill location and out of the area.”
50 years ago: An advertisement for Gradens read: “Spring ’65 ... the year for beautiful shoes ... by Life Stride. The best year ever to wear beautiful, slim-heeled pumps. Life Stride loves to make you look your feminine best.” Shoes ranged in price from $12 to $14.
25 years ago: “An annual harbinger of summer in Durango for families and young people alike is the opening of the Rocket Drive-In Theater. The drive-in opens Friday and will feature hit movies, ‘Look Who’s Talking’ and ‘The Bear.’”
