50 years ago: “Southwest Colorado from Pagosa Springs to Dove Creek and from Bondad to Silverton is expected to go on daylight savings time April 25. Daylight saving means that clocks will be advanced one hour making dawn and sunset come one hour later. While daylight will be slower in coming, the evenings will last one hour longer until the last Sunday in October, which falls Oct. 31.”
25 years ago: “Officials at Mesa Verde National Park signed an agreement with ‘The Friends of Mesa Verde’ to build a new visitors center and research facility near the entrance to the park. The Friends of Mesa Verde formed a year ago to promote the educational, historical and scientific activities of the park. They have agreed to raise half of the $12 million needed for the project. The National Park Service will supply the remaining funds.”
