100 years ago: Ralph Linton of Chicago “was wandering up and down the main drag trying to count the number of cracks in the city’s cement sidewalks.”
75 years ago: A Center, Colo., man and a Durango girl were in a tragic car wreck near Cascade. They were driving in a car, which lost control and overturned, instantly killing the man and seriously injuring the girl, who suffered a crushed skull and broken neck.
50 years ago: Army Staff Sargent Francis A. Manzawares of Durango was assigned to the Fourth Artillery in Vietnam.
25 years ago: Someone reported two men fighting in a car in the west 200 block of Seventh Street. Police discovered it was a man trying to convince his drunken brother not to drive his car.
