75 years ago: Mesa Verde National Park announced to visitors that only two sightseeing tours would be offered each day due to the wartime effort to conserve rubber.

50 years ago: Representatives of Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez assumed ownership of a new ambulance but were worried about having to pay the annual insurance premium.

25 years ago: Someone reported four or five people who were setting up camp “with their bongo drums out and everything” on private property at the south end of Turtle Lake.
