100 years ago: Someone lost six sheep and four goats, and wanted them back.
75 years ago: Larry McDaniels, employee of Parsons Drug Store, broke his toe, having dropped a can of ice cream on his foot about 30 minutes before he sat down for Christmas dinner. Two other bones in his foot were painfully bruised during the accident.
50 Years Ago: Skiing conditions were excellent at Purgatory, with 40 inches of snow at midway. Wolf Creek pass, on the other hand, boasted over 5 feet of snow.
25 years ago: Ski equipment was stolen from Purgatory, including Kurma ski poles, four pairs of skis and two pairs of ski boots. Durango Crime Stoppers reported several vending machines owned by Coca-Cola, Pepsi and Ever Fresh by Coors having been tampered with via someone injecting an “unknown type of solution” into the machines. Several thousand dollars’ worth of damages were accrued.
