25 years ago: “The La Plata County commissioners have begun taking steps to provide landfill services once they close the Van-Dal Landfill by the end of the year. Van-Dal, located 2 miles west of Durango, is the county’s largest dump. Other dumps are located east of Bayfield and at Marvel.”
