100 years ago: “Eight cars of cattle were brought up last night in the Farmington train from Farmington, shipped by Catchpole and Hatcher to the Pagosa Springs range, for which point they will leave this morning.”

75 years ago: “Five Durango young people will be among the 677 seniors and graduating students who will receive degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder.”

50 years ago: “Officials of the La Plata River Corporation announced the purchase of the town of Hesperus, effective June 1. The old town presently consists of a post office, general store and a service station. However, the corporation has plans for developing the area to include a restaurant, curio shop, and other small stores as well as expanding and improving the service station.

25 years ago: “The La Plata Community Hospital Auxiliary recently voted to contribute more than $15,000 of auxiliary funds toward paying off hospital bills owed to local vendors.”
