100 years ago: The Durango High School baseball team announced plans to travel “by auto” to “cross bats” with sluggers in Aztec, if they could get enough gas for the trip.

75 years ago: Mrs. Marie Pokorny and her son departed from Silverton for Durango, where they planned to make a home. The move was a result of her husband’s death and the decision to close the family-owned “Johnny’s Cash” grocery store.

50 years ago: The annual ski club potluck dinner was held at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church. Each family who attended paid $1.50.

25 years ago: Someone reported that about 50 juveniles were watching a fight near the footbridge at Durango High School, but the crowd had dispersed by the time officers arrived on scene.
