50 years ago: The 1968 city of Cortez budget for $680,000 was granted final approval without any opposition during a meeting with City Council officials.
25 years ago: Someone reported to the Durango Police Department that two 21-year-old women were driving a John Deere tractor around town at 2:15 a.m. Officers found no known violations from the report and replied, “It must be Deere season.”
