100 years ago: To encourage people in Durango to become homeowners, B. Glaser offered “one of the desirable Liberty Loan Bonds of $50.00 absolutely free” to each purchaser of farms or residences worth $2,000 or more.

75 years ago: The Durango Reading Club met at the home of Mrs. J.A. Lee. Activities included reading and talking about reading.

50 years ago: The Southern Ute Indian Tribe announced that it received a trust patent for 2,837.38 acres of Archuleta County land previously held by the Bureau of Land Management. The lands were acquired as the result of construction of the Navajo Dam and Reservoir project.

25 YEARS AGO: More than 200 people gathered on Main Avenue for the second annual Show of Light march and vigil, a rally to end violence against women.
