100 years ago: “George W. Avery, manager of the Incas mines, who has been in the city for a few days on matters of business, returned to the La Platas.”
75 years ago: “George Gilmore of Durango, whose car slipped off the road between Durango and Hesperus suffered severe bruises but was not seriously hurt.”
50 years ago: “Officials of the Durango Development Co., Inc., signed an agreement with Mike Bodo for acquisition of about 265 acres of land just south of Durango to be used as an industrial park. The land is in three tracts and adjoins the Telluride Iron Works and Farmers Supply properties.”
25 years ago: “A burglar took about $40,000 worth of art prints from the Robert L. Parker Gallery in downtown Durango, then apparently trashed most of them in a vacant lot. ... The burglar probably was looking for money and, when only $400 was found, grabbed about 275 lithographs. About 25 signed, limited edition lithographs of ‘Starflower,’ by gallery owner Parker, are still missing. They are valued at about $125 each.”
