100 years ago: “James B. Dick, of Walsenburg, was an arrival in the city on his way to the Bulldozer Mine in the La Platas in which he is a heavy stockholder.”

75 years ago: “More cars are licensed in La Plata County this year than there were last year at the same time this year. 3,516 cars and 396 trucks have been licensed. Last year licenses were granted to 3,243 cars.”

50 years ago: “For the 12th year in a row Fort Lewis College has set a new student registration record. Basic preliminary registration shows 1,040 students have enrolled at the Durango college. Last year at this time 975 students had registered.”

25 years ago: “The Southwest Colorado Multiple Sclerosis Society honored Susie Stuber as the volunteer of the year and recognized Durango attorney Sam Maynes for his devotion to the group.”
