100 years ago: E.E. Brooksbank was “among the bunch that emigrated from Silverton to Durango” to find “a little pleasure and excitement.”
75 years ago: “Rubber possibilities of the pingue bush” in New Mexico were investigated by the department of agriculture, said Senator Dennis Chávez.
50 years ago: Graffiti was becoming more popular in Durango, and phrases, such as “LSD, better living through chemistry” and “Hubert Humphrey eats oatmeal,” were increasingly being seen on city walls and on the back of bus seats.
25 years ago: A “converted” white school bus was weaving in and out of traffic on U.S. Highway 550, near Highway 172.
