And the West is History

100 years ago: BAYFIELD – “S.B. Edwards is moving the house formerly occupied by Pierson and Wilmer. It will be quite an addition to South Street.”

75 years ago: “A record crowd watched the first ski tournament ever held near Durango, when 150 persons watched about 70 skiers go through their paces. The meet, sponsored by the local ski club, was held at the club course near Haviland Lake.”

50 years ago: An advertisement for Sheppard Baking Co. in Durango read, “Any sandwich tastes better when it’s made with Sheppard’s bread. Baked and delivered daily.”

25 years ago: “Two years ago Tana and Jerry Goings of Durango were trying to have children. Today, thanks to medical technology, they’re trying to keep up with triplets. A frozen embryo transfer resulted in the brith of Kali, Kelsi and Cody. The triplets are the first Colorado births from the procedure and the first known triplet embryo-implant pregnancy in the world.”
