75 years ago: The Trail Riders of America were scheduled to be in Durango to start a 10-day trip under the guidance of Fred Horniaday of Washington, D.C. They planned to start at Teelawauket Ranch, and go “up the Pine, across Rock Creek, down the Vallecito, up Johnson Creek, down Needle Creek and wind up at the Columbine Ranger Station.”
50 years ago: Master Sgt. Benjamin R. Watts, an Army recruiter in the Durango area, announced that qualified personnel were being sought by the military to be trained as drivers.
25 years ago: A man was hit over the head and had his bike stolen in the 1100 block of Camino del Rio.
