50 years ago: “The transfer of 128 acres of city-owned land to the State Board of Agriculture was completed with the exchange of the deed for an $80,000 check. ... The land, which takes in the Jaycee campground and Hillcrest golf course, will be used for expansion of the college. Much of the $80,000 the city received for the property will be used to purchase more land which will be used as a new site for the golf course.”
