100 Years Ago: There were wanted advertisements for a “4- or 5-room furnished house,” “goats or other livestock or residence in Durango” and those seeking auto-shop services to “doll up” their automobiles.
75 years ago: Several Durango pilots requested an armed guard be on duty at the airport. They wanted the guard to have “full police authority” to inspect flight papers and prevent unauthorized flights.
50 Years Ago: The Durango Demons won a basketball game against the Gallup Bengals 69-58. The team “galloped over Gallup,” scoring 22 points in the first quarter and rendering the Bengals “confused and completely outclassed.”
25 years ago: The Kidney Foundation candy machine and the Civitan Club candy box were stolen from Denny’s Restaurant, 666 Camino del Rio. Losses amounted to approximately $800.
