25 years ago: La Plata County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a woman who hitched a ride with a couple on U.S. Highway 550, but wanted to get out of the car because they were fighting and one of them was bleeding. Deputies reportedly found the couple, cited the man with assault and took him to jail.
