25 years ago: The Fort Lewis College Political Science Club will decide by Dec. 2 if it wants to invite Colorado Ku Klux Klan leader Shawn Slater to speak at the college. FLC administrators admitted at a meeting Friday that they cannot prohibit Slater from appearing at the college so the decision rests with the students – if they want to try and raise the $15,000 to $20,000 local law enforcement officials say they will need to provide security.
