50 years ago: DURANGO – Members of the board of education Tuesday evening approved payment of September bills and accepted the warranty deed for property given to the district by Mr. and Mrs. Joe Childers. ... The Childers warranty deed is for 40.93 acres on the Florida road. The deed stipulates that the land must be used only for “purposes directly connected with school activity or functions. In no case, however, shall said premises be used during said 15-year period for the purpose of garaging, storing or repairing school buses or other mechanical equipment.”
