75 years ago: The first snow of the season fell on Cumbres Pass, according to Chief Dispatcher L.S. Lively of the Rio Grande railroad in Alamosa. The agent at Cumbres reported 4 inches of snow.
50 years ago: In a letter to City Council members, Mike Valentine, Chamber of Commerce president, detailed plans for gold Christmas decorations on Main Avenue. Valentine asked the council to match $1,200 in merchants’ funds.
25 years ago: Johnny Cash and The Carter Family were scheduled to perform at McGee Park Coliseum in Farmington.
