100 years ago: The city of Durango reported that its treasurer paid a $1,000 bond, which reduced the city debt to $295,000.
75 years ago: The local airport reported that an airplane arriving in Durango had to “fly around for nearly an hour” before air traffic cleared and it was able to land.
50 years ago: Durango Police Chief Cloyd Hubertus reported a string of thefts, all individual incidents, which included a pickup, sedan and “pop machine” that were broken into, as well as a wallet and purse that were stolen.
25 years ago: The Durango Police Department reported that a 40-year-old man threw a chicken skin out of his car window, which hit an officer’s vehicle. Police cited the man for driving without a license or proof of insurance.
