100 years ago: The “first new potatoes” and “a good supply of home-grown cabbage” came into Durango with Johnathan Townsend.

75 years ago: La Plata County commissioners, City of Durango officials, Chamber of Commerce members and Herbert McGregor, county assessor, met with flying enthusiasts Jack Turner, Horace Buchanan and Charles Murray to discuss finding a site for an airport in the Durango area.

50 years ago: All “Huck Finns and Becky Thatchers” were invited to attend Huck Finn Day, sponsored by the VFW, in Viles Park, across from St. Columba’s Catholic Church.

25 years ago: A 23-year-old man passed out in a booth at McDonald’s and was “sent on his way.”
