25 years ago: “La Plata County’s Planning Commission will recommend construction of a water-injection well north of Bayfield despite opposition from more than 35 surrounding homeowners. The injection well would be located off of County Road 505 at the site of a producing coal-seam pump. The well would service about 31 Amoco gas wells in the area by getting rid of water that is pumped from the gas wells.”
