50 years ago: DURANGO – Police Chief Cloyd Hubertus reported this morning. E.G. Parks, 1 Sixth Avenue, called the police at 8:25 p.m. Thursday to report someone seemed to have broken into a warehouse at the end of Sixth avenue. Capt. John Garnand and Policeman J.D. Baker in one car and Policeman J. A. Joyner and Henry Chilton in another found three 16-year-old youths in the warehouse. The hasp had been broken off the front door. A quantity of beer had been taken out of the cooler where Southwestern Beverage Co. had stored and stacked it by the door Chief Hubertus reported.

25 years ago: It was a frigid 6 degrees outside with 14 inches of snow still leftover from November.
