He will, however, be heard from later as he is stuffed with ethics – results are good enough for Doc – should be for any who deliver the goods.”
75 years ago: “Sometime tomorrow, Dick Young will ‘test hop’ the rebuilt Taylor Cub Plane preliminary to inspection by a Department of Commerce representative. The plane, property of Durango Flying Club, was damaged slightly when Floyd Gregg made a forced landing several weeks ago.”
50 years ago: “The number of passengers on the D&RGW Narrow Gauge Silverton was 530, Agent Amos Cordova said. An estimated 520 boarded the train this morning for the run.”
25 years ago: “Twenty bicyclists gathered in the rain on Bakers Bridge to be captured in a photograph for posterity. Bakers Bridge, built in 1929, and Elbert Creek Overflow Bridge just west of Bakers will be demolished and rebuilt this summer. The photograph was an attempt to re-create an 1895 scene of Durango Wheel Club members posing on a wooden bridge, believed to have spanned the Animas River near the site of the current bridge.”
