100 years ago: The Rev. McClements, Episcopal rector at Farmington, arrived in Durango after “an extensive vacation trip through the wonders of the Grand Canyon of the Colorado, and to the various sight-seeing spots along the great Santa Fe system between Trinidad and Needles, Calif.”

75 years ago: Fred Klatt of Durango “was one of the fliers that bombed and inflicted heavy damage to Jap bases in the New Guinea.”

50 years ago: Leighton G. Roberts, developer of the Lake of the Pines subdivision north of Durango, announced that he bought Hermosa Cliff Guest ranch.

25 years ago: A 31-year-old Durango woman rolled her car three times after she struck a skunk about six miles north of Durango. She suffered slight injuries. The skunk was killed.
