And the West is History

100 years ago: “Clean up day has come and gone and with it has departed from the city much rubbish that has accumulated for years; rubbish that even the Rocky Mountain canary would not take a chance of digesting.”

75 years ago: “The high school swimming pool will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays of each week this summer with boys under the charge of Ronald Crawford, swimming in the morning, and with Mrs. Hoyt C. Miller directing girls in the afternoon.”

25 years ago: “Two Colorado water projects, years in the development and still unfinished, will end up costing many times their original estimates because of a variety of complications, the delays and legal battles they have triggered, officials say. The comments came as the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation released its most recent cost estimates for the Animas-La Plata and Dolores water projects, which rose by 3.8 percent and 5.1 percent, respectively, just over the last year.”
