50 years ago: According to an Associated Press report by Colin Frost, Ireland celebrated St. Patrick’s Day “with the usual big parade and a quiet confidence that the old country is making progress despite a troubled world.”

25 years ago: Someone reported to the Durango Police Department that a man was harassing the bartender at El Rancho Tavern. According to the report, officers cited the 23-year-old, took him to the police station, then took him back to El Rancho because he forgot his jacket and sent him on his way.
