100 years ago: A “casual investigation” of the coal situation in Durango showed that the O.K. Mine was selling and delivering slack and screenings in the city at “20 cents the ton less than President Wilson’s prices at the mine.”
75 years ago: Fourteen officials from the major petroleum companies were “touring all parts of Colorado” to put into effect “a uniform, state-wide salvage organization announced by the Colorado salvage committee and the conservation division of the war production board.”
50 years ago: Two head of cattle were struck by a car 13 miles west of Durango on U.S. Highway 160. The crash did minor damage to the vehicle and no fatalities resulted, human or bovine.
25 years ago: A residence in the 900 block of Spruce Drive was egged.
