100 years ago: A Durango cartoonist illustrated his view of the recent presidential election in terms of gender, expressing that “the women of the species are more democratic than the male.”

75 years ago: Mrs. Anna Price of Durango died in a Phoenix hospital as her three children remained with her at the bedside. She was born in Bayfield.

50 Years Ago: The city of Durango filed in court against four local businessmen who had not paid their city occupational tax for the previous two years. The ordinance was passed in 1950 and made applicable to all Durango businesses.

25 years ago: By 6 a.m., about 250 people were lined up around the intersection of Ninth Street and Main Avenue to purchase their Snowdown Follies tickets at 7 a.m. in the Main Mall. A handful of fans even staked out at midnight the night before, with others arriving well before sunrise. The 800 tickets available sold out in an hour.
