100 years ago: In local news, a weather report predicted, “We think – If this weather continues that we will have a hard winter.”

75 years ago: Police warned Durango citizens to take extra precautions to avoid having their automobiles stolen by use of auto tax stickers.

50 years ago: The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge train, lashed-up with 15 cars, made an early run to Silverton to inspect track and clear some snow slide areas.

25 years ago: A woman, whose husband died a month prior, left a note for her friends that asked them to care for her dogs “until I return, if I ever do.” After an intensive search, that included the use of an airplane, she was found on Vallecito Creek Trail and taken to hospital.
